Anime: Seven Anime I’m Looking Forward to in the Fall

In which I find a lot to be excited about in the Fall 2020 anime season.

I got myself involved in a bit of a big project in the old craft room, so here’s some thoughts on the upcoming anime season — one I’m looking forward to quite a bit!

魔女見習いをさがして, Looking for Witch Apprentices

It’s probably obvious that on the top of my list would be Majo Minarai wo Sagashite, the (delayed) 20-year anniversary film project for Ojamajo Doremi. I can’t imagine it’ll be anything but a delight, although these movies that have characters parallel to the originals are kind of a mixed bag with me. The light novel series continues the main girls’ lives into young adulthood, but…that’s a whole another blog entry unto itself.

How cool is it that Kapibara-san is getting an anime? I’ve been a fan since the start, though it’s hard to get an idea from the preview.

魔女の度々, The Witch’s Travels, though it’s localized as Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina

Majo no Tabitabi is exactly what the name would have you expect: the travels of a witch. i haven’t read the light novels, but I really enjoyed the look and feel of the manga, which makes everyone, especially main character Elaina, extremely pretty and cute without fanservice of the gross variety. She travels; she meets strange and interesting people; and on she goes.

I might end up regretting saying that I was looking forward to this one — honestly the preview doesn’t look all that great — but this is a case of me being familiar with a franchise only from its merchandise, and so I’m excited to see what it’s all about.

ヒプノシスマイク -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima

As I wrote a few entries ago, I’m a big fan of Hypnosis Mic, and this anime looks very–oh god, what am I saying, it looks kind of awful. But I really need to see Hypnosis Mics in action. It’s one of those “I’d love it to be good, but I’ll enjoy it just as much if it’s bad” situations, which are great — you can’t lose!

Tonikaku Kawaii is by the author of Hayate the Combat Butler, a series I’m quite fond of — except for the harem tropes, and the final choice in particular, but that’s neither here nor there. This eliminates that with a central story about instant marriage and space. The main character is named Nasa, and the whole thing is the epitome of the title’s literal translation: Just Cute!

おそ松さん

I somehow missed this was on the way until fairly recently, so I was delighted to find out that Osomatsu- san is getting a third season! I’ll write more about this series soon, I think.

Did I miss any?
